As if chasing the early summer breeze
Cutting a clean line through the vivid blue
Crossing the ridge swathed in green
Where does it seek to fly on those wings?

Through the swaying patchwork of leaves
Sunlight shines down upon us
Inviting us to enjoy our youth,
The light extends a hand our way

Let's charge forth, just as that bird does
Remaining the innocent youths that we are
There's a pounding in my chest —
This summer that's begun
Is just so dazzling
The sky shines in the spring breeze, the billowing clouds
Are the emotions I cannot hold back
As if frolicking, the twittering voices sing
The moon, the sun and the stars light the summer bird's path

As a strong gust of summer wind blows our way
I'm not sure why, but we turn to each other and laugh
No matter what awaits on the road ahead
We'll be able to fly beyond the heat haze

Sometimes, as our cheeks are dampened
In the gentle rain
You can feel the distance
That connects our hearts, don't you?

Fly on gallantly, just as that bird does
Pierce through the blue horizon
Face the future
That bears the name of your dream
And dive freely towards it
"Whose voice is that, calling out to me?"
If you've decided you want to find out,
As if swimming, clear a path in the clouds

Though your feathers are surely still
As soft as newly grown leaves
By the time you've overtaken the summer
You'll have grown far stronger

In the shade of a verdant summer grove, the thundering of the cicadas' chorus begins
We extend a hand towards the light we see beyond that
