Subaru: He~y, Daikichi! Where'd you goooo?
First tag, and now hide and seek? C'mon, you know I've never been able to beat you at either of those!
(Mm~mm, I messed up. It was careless to assume that I could let Daikichi off of his leash in the Starmony Hall grounds...)
(I mean, since it's like he's always being restrained, I thought it might be nice to let him run free! Once in a while!)
(Cos Daikichi's just like me — we both love our freedom... ☆)
(But I should've known. Precisely cos we're so alike in loving freedom way too much, of course he'd get overly excited and run off the moment he's let loose.)
(Even though there's no snow for dogs to be romping around in yet[1].)
Sora: He~y! Sparkly oni~san!
Subaru: Mm? This voice...
Uhh, hmm? Ah, found 'im! He~y, yellow kid~ ♪
What're you doing up so high? You'll get hurt if you fall, y'know~ It's not safe!
Sora: HaHa~ ♪ Sora's just playing a little game! He's trying to get from school to his room in Starmony Halls without letting his feet touch the floor~ ♪

Sora: It's a game precisely because you're not trying to find a point to it! That's what Sora learnt from Shisho~ ♪
Subaru: Ahaha! Yeah, that sounds just like him — something kinda confusing that leaves you wondering if there's a deeper meaning to it or not! It's Natsumenese...!
Sora: No, it's a magic spell ♪
Subaru: That stuff you call magic spells are sort of game-like too, aren't they? ... Well, putting that aside.
Sorry to interrupt your game, yellow kid, but have you seen Daikichi anywhere?
Sora: Daikichi? You mean your dog?
Subaru: Yup! I leave him with my mom when work gets busy and all, so it's been a while since I picked him up. And he's gone and turned into an uncontrollable rascal cos she's always too soft on him!
Sora: Hm hm. So Daikichi doesn't like how strict you are compared to your mother, and that's why he ran away?
Subaru: Well, my mom's pretty soft on me too — but I'm the kind of Akehoshi Subaru who's famous for being strict with both himself and others.
Sora: Kind? Are there others? Like different coloured ones?
Subaru: Not at all! I'm one of a kind... ☆
... Uh, what were we talking about again? The things you latch onto are pretty weird, yellow kid, so conversations with you always seem to end up derailing~
Sora: Oh? Sora hasn't really been told that he's 'weird' recently, though~?
But it kind of feels like Sora's at fault, so he'll help find Daikichi as an apology! Looking for him from high up will probably be a piece of cake~ ♪
Subaru: Nah, it's not your fault or anything... It's just that part of you that's weird or maybe on an unusual wavelength~? Though I guess I'm not really one to talk.
Sora: HiHi~ ♪ Target spotted! Daikichi is digging at the soil in the corner of the courtyard~
Sora's glad he was moving! Wild animals are good at hiding their presence, so it makes their 'colours' hard to spot.
— Hup! Over this way, Sparkly oni~san!
Subaru: Woah, don't just jump down like that. That's really not safe...
Sorry about this, I really ended up disrupting your game.
Sora: No, it's okay! Someone else's happiness is of higher priority than Sora's fun!
Subaru: Hm, my dad was that kind of idol too. The kind where, the more precious and beloved he was to you, the harder it was to be around him.

Subaru: Ooh, you really found him! Thanks a bunch, yellow kid! You've got pretty sharp eyes.

Subaru: Well, nevermind that. Heeey, Daikichi... Whaddya think you're doing, running off and leaving your master behind! You're a disgrace to the Akehoshi family, unfit to call yourself a pet!
Sora: There's no need to go that far... Oh, or is that just a lighthearted jab at a family member?

Subaru: What's up this time, yellow kid?
Sora: Nothing, it's just... The spot that Daikichi was digging at is shining very brightly.
Subaru: Is it? Well, Daikichi does also love shiny stuff~ It's in our nature as Akehoshis!
The members of our house devote themselves to mastering The Way Of The Shinystuff from the moment they're born!
Wait, huh? There isn't actually anything shiny, though? It's just some kind of machine buried in the dirt...?

It can't be... Part of a spaceship or something, right...?
Note ↑: In Japan, there's a children's song that associates winter and snowfall with "dogs getting excited and romping around the yard", and "cats curling up in the kotatsu".
